Dirty Dozen Race Review Usk 2015

Dirty Dozen Races is renowned for it’s Big Obstacles which are designed by it’s co-founder Doug Spence, also known as ‘The Beard’. They provide amazing Obstacle Races in the UK througout the year with distances to suit all levels of fitness
(6, 12 and 18k races).

Myself and Mikey attended the Dirty Dozen Race in Usk, South Wales in 2014.
I can honestly say it was by far the best Obstacle Race that we have ever taken part in!

We had recently completed a very poorly organised Rat Race Dirty Weekend, so it was refreshing to take part in a race that was very well organised.
Lots of water stops, friendly marshals, fantastic obstacles, jaw dropping scenery, plus a great goodie bag at the end! Oh and I nearly forgot to mention the obligatory Doug The Beard handshake at the finish line 🙂

This years race

Last years race was so successful they’ve decided to go for a repeat performance on 11th July 2015.
Having been following Doug’s blog for the London Build, I have no doubt that this years race will be much bigger and better than last years. There are 6k and 12k options with 15 obstacles for the 6k and 20 for the 12k.

Look forward to Big Obstacles such as the 10ft Wall, Barbarella (a nice mud crawl underneath barbed wire),
Tarzan Bars (long and painful monkey bars), overhanging walls and many more surprise obstacles on the day.
Check out the Dirty Dozen Races Website to find out the full list of obstacles

Pre-Race Training

We will be training for this event from now until the day of the race. All our bootcamps are focused on Obstacle Racing – we try to focus on exercises that will mimic the movements that are required of the body during a race.
Check out our Workout Page for sample plans that you can do at home or in the gym. Also we’ve got a dedicated Dirty Dozen Races Training Day coming up in June, bookmark our blog for more details coming very soon!
